50 houses to be built in one week!

This is the target set by Habitat for Humanity South Africa as they embark on their National Corporate Build during the week of the 3 - 7 October 2011.

Building communities around the houses they construct is at the core of what Habitat for Humanity South Africa is all about. In the same way bricks form the foundation of a home for a family, a Habitat house provides the foundation for community growth and development.

The week of the 3 –7 October will see a community of South Africans coming together to support and build houses for communities in need across South Africa in a joint partnership between Habitat, The Department of Human Settlements and a number of organisations including; ArcelorMittal South Africa, Federated Employers' Mutual Assurance Company Limited, Auto & General, Nedbank Home Loans, Volition, Industrial Development Corporation, Santam, Life Health Care Foundation, RMB Asset Management, BOE, Thomson Reuters, 3M, Deutsche Bank Africa Foundation, Macquarie Securities, Nedgroup Investments, Coronation Fund Managers, Standard Bank IPC, Valspar SA and Microsoft South Africa. The employee volunteer initiative allows employees to experience at first hand the very skills required in the building of a home and an opportunity during the process to engage, learn and have a greater understanding of one another as "brick by brick" the homes take shape!
